Barcelona want to sign Sergio Aguero from Manchester City at the end of the season.
According to reports, the 32-year-old Argentina forward is being eyed by a host of European clubs with his contract expiring at the end of the season.
It’s been a poor campaign for Aguero but there is no doubting his quality
Aguero will become a free agent in just over five months, and he’s yet to pen fresh terms with City amid an injury-hit campaign in which he has made only nine appearances and scored just two goals.
Despite his poor record this term, Aguero has been a prolific striker all his career and in 2019 he became Man City’s all-time record goalscorer.
Paris Saint-Germain and their new manager Mauricio Pochettino have shown interest in Aguero, but now The Sun claim Barca are considering a summer swoop for the veteran forward.
But should the Catalans capture Aguero in the summer, it is unlikely he will have the chance to line up alongside his international teammate Lionel Messi at Camp Nou.
Trevor Sinclair fears for Sergio Aguero’s future at Manchester City and thinks a move to PSG may be on the cards
Messi tried to leave Barca last summer but ended up remaining with the LaLiga giants, although he is expected to finally quit the club at the end of this season.
Man City themselves were one of the leading contenders to sign the legendary forward last year, and they are set to return with a new approach for Messi in the coming months.
And talkSPORT has been told that Messi joining Man City is ‘inevitable‘ in the wake of Pep Guardiola penning a new contract with the Etihad giants towards the end of last year.
“I think Messi is inevitable,” former City winger Trevor Sinclair told talkSPORT.
Messi could reunite with his former Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola at the Etihad
I cant see anything other than that. And I look at the club I supported, little old Manchester City, signing the best player in the world and possibly winning the Champions League
I cant see it any other way. He is too young to go back to Argentina, and I dont think there is any other club where they have the right manager in place where Messi would go in and feel comfortable under that manager.
I feel it is inevitable it is going to happen and I cant wait for it to happen!
