Thiago Silva has hinted that he wants to stay another year at Chelsea after the club sealed progression to the Champions League semi-finals.
The Blues sealed an aggregate win over Porto on Tuesday night, despite losing 1-0 against Sergio Conceicao’s side in Seville.
Thiago Silva was back in the starting line up for Chelsea after missing Saturday’s win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park due to suspension, thanks to a red card picked up in the 5-2 defeat at home to West Brom the week before.
The match continues his return from a thigh injury that has seen him miss almost two months of action for Chelsea, and with his contract set to expire at the end of the season nothing is certain yet about his future.
However, the Brazil international hinted after the match at another year at Stamford Bridge, stating that playing at his current level will help him to achieve a place in Brazil’s World Cup squad for 2022.
I hope to continue like this,” the 36-year-old told Sky Sport. “I want to continue to play at this level and get to the World Cup 2022.
“Thomas Tuchel is doing an amazing work here at Chelsea.”
