PETALING JAYA: Israel has no basis to attack the Palestinians, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is using the conflict to mask his wrongdoings, says Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin (pic).
The president and founder of the Council of Malaysian Women Political Leaders said Netanyahu had tried to justify the attacks as an act of self-defence, claiming that Palestinian fighters led by Hamas had struck without provocation.
The Israeli Prime Minister is lying due to the fact that this latest violence erupted after the Israeli government evicted several Arab-Palestinian families from their homes in Sheikh Jarrah in the East Jerusalem district.
Provocation also occurred when the Israeli Defense Force attacked the Al-Aqsa Mosque while Muslims were worshipping inside, Zuraida said in a statement on Monday (May 17).
Citing a report in the Wall Street Journal, Zuraida, who is also Housing and Local Government Minister, said she believes Netanyahu had planned the attacks on Palestine as he faces various allegations of corruption and bribery in the Israeli courts.
At this point, Netanyahu is seen desperately trying to cover up his wrongdoings by blaming the Palestinians and is hiding behind the conflict to save his political career, even if it results in the deaths of many Palestinians and Israelis, she said.
Zuraida called on Malaysians to continue to support the Palestinian cause and condemn the violence.
Meanwhile, Perikatan Nasional Youth leaders said the bombings and killings by Israels Zionist regime shows they have committed acts of ethnic cleansing in their quest to create an apartheid Zionist state.
Perikatan Youth chief Khairil Nizam Khirudin, along with other component party youth chiefs such as Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia Armada chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal, Sabah STARs Rizal Johari, Sabah Progressive Partys Jamain Sarudin and Gerakan acting youth chief Wong Chia Zhen, said they stand in solidarity with the Palestinians.
They also supported the tripartite move by Malaysia, Brunei and Indonesia in condemning Israels violent acts on Palestine and joined the international community in urging the United Nations Security Council to order Israel to cease hostilities.
They also called on Israel to take responsibility for the invasions and killing and face justice at the International Criminal Court, while inviting Malaysians to participate in the #Aid4Palestine campaign launched by the Special Envoy of the Prime Minister of Malaysia to the Middle East, Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang.
