The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) will discuss a proposal to reimpose the bubble policy over NCR Plus in light of the threat of the Delta variant, an official of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) said on Tuesday.
At the Laging Handa public briefing, DILG Undersecretary Epimaco Densing said that the IATF is set to have a meeting on Thursday.
“Bibigyang tugon namin ‘yang suggestion ng OCTA Research. Magkakaroon po tayo ng IATF meeting ngayong Huwebes at masasama po ‘yan sa ating agenda para mapag-usapan,” he said.

On Monday, the OCTA Research urged the government to reimpose the bubble policy over Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna and Rizal, or NCR Plus.
OCTA fellow Dr. Guido David said a bubble policy would allow economic activity in Metro Manila to continue unhampered and eliminate the need for a tighter lockdown classification.
“The last time we had a bubble sa NCR Plus, no’ng nagka-surge tayo, this was to keep our neighboring provinces safe from the virus and it was effective naman, hindi masyado kumalat ‘yung surge,” he said.

David also said restrictions on the movement of children should be reimposed since they are not yet eligible for COVID-19 vaccination. -MDM, GMA News
