After a sizzling heat victory on Saturday night to qualify second-fastest, Lewis Clareburt had to settle for seventh in the final as he attempted to end New Zealands Olympic drought in the pool in the mens 400m individual medley at 1.30pm (NZT) on Sunday.
Clareburt had led the field at the halfway mark.
Billy Stairmand has advanced to tomorrow’s round 3 Olympics surfing action alongside his fellow Kiwi Ella Williams.

The pressure is on for the rowing squad to deliver more success.
Also on the water, its a big day for the rowers, with single sculler Emma Twigg leading the way into her quarterfinal after an impressive start. Rio 2016 canoe slalom silver medallist Luuka Jones cruised into the semifinals in her fourth Olympic campaign while Sam Meech finished 19th in his first of 10 Laser class races.

Hockeys Black Sticks women fourth at the last two Olympics opened the tournament with a resounding 3-0 win over Argentina. Later this evening, Chris Woods OlyWhites look to back up their football win over South Korea when they face Honduras.
