- Ashley Judd is walking again – and in the Swiss National Park!
- The actor shared a clip of herself with the Alpine Peaks in the background along with a health update.
- The video comes 6 months after the star sustained a serious leg injury in Congo and was hospitalised in South Africa as a result.
Earlier this year Ashley Judd was hospitalised in South Africa following a near-fatal accident in Congo.
The actor was at a research camp studying an endangered species of apes called bonobos when she sustained a severe leg injury.
She later took to Instagram detailing the “gruelling 55-hour odyssey” to get help, before thanking the staff at Sunninghill Hospital in Johannesburg who helped nurse her back to health.
Now, in a lengthy post, the Double Jeopardy star says alongside a video of her walking among the Alpine Peaks in Switzerland: “Today, five months and three weeks after the accident in the Congolese rainforest, I walked again, and in what fashion! I hiked in the #SwissNationalPark.
“Stepping in, I felt in my ease, my natural garment of self, at home in my spirit. My leg and foot, worked beautifully. I walked up hill on uneven surfaces for an hour confidently and came down carefully and easily. I rested in a meadow on God’s fecund earth for hours. The next day, I walked again on a high Alp in #Ticino, working hard and feeling how much stamina I have to rebuild. This is the road ahead. But I am up to the daily tasks, as I am even carrying firewood into our Alpine hut!”
The actor went on to thank the many people who contributed to her recovery.
“My leg will never be the same,” she wrote. “She is a new leg. And I love her. We are buddies. We have come a long way and we have a fabulous life ahead.”
