Iron Mike is back.
Mike Tyson, the former heavyweight champion of the world, is returning to the boxing ring Saturday to take on Roy Jones Jr. in an eight-round exhibition fight at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
Jones, who was once considered the best pound-for-pound fighter in the word, hasn’t been in the ring professionally since a cruiserweight fight in 2018.
For Tyson, it’s his first trip back to the ring since 2005, when he quit before the start of the seventh round against journeyman Kevin McBride.
Saturday’s event is part of the The Legends Only League, which will stage events featuring retired superstars who would participate in pay-per-view events. Saturday’s bout is the launch of that enterprise.
