Mesut Ozil has spoken of his love for Fenerbahce as he edges closer to the Arsenal exit door.
Ozil is unwanted at the north London club and is out of contract in June. However, there have been numerous rumours he’ll leave this month.
Ozil’s main options appear to be MLS or Turkey but he wants to play in both countries before he retires
Fenerbahce are reported to be the frontrunners to sign the German, despite suggestions they can’t afford him.
And, in a Twitter Q&A on Monday evening, Ozil fuelled speculation he could be on his way to to the Turkish club.
Revealing he supported them growing up, Ozil labelled them as the ‘Real Madrid of Turkey’ and declared they are the only club he could play for in the country.
He said: “I grew up as a @Fenerbahce fan as a kid in Germany every German-Turkish person supports a Turkish team when they grow up in Germany.
“And mine was Fenerbahce. Fenerbahce is like Real Madrid in Spain. The biggest club in the country.”
At 32, Ozil doesn’t have a huge amount of years left in his career but he revealed that also harbour ambitions to play in America.
DC United have also been linked with a move for the World Cup winner.
And Ozil declared: “There are two countries I want to play football in before I retire: Turkey and USA. If I went to Turkey, I could only go to Fenerbahce.”

One place where Ozil won’t be going is Tottenham!
While his commitment to Arsenals cause has been questioned by many but it seems a hatred of Tottenham will always bring him and the Gooners together.
Ozil was asked whether hed rather sign for Spurs or retire, to which he responded: Easy question. Retire!
